- Digital photography is a form of photography that captures and processes
images electronically. Digital cameras have essentially become the standard
nowadays. Compared to film photography where you would need a film strip
(a flexible plastic strip coated with light-sensitive chemicals) to capture
images with an analog film camera, digital photography offers immediate
feedback while allowing you to capture crystal-clear images. |
|
|
- We have spent more than 72 Hours in researching and finding out the
best resources that will help you to learn everything about digital photography.
Learning to properly use a digital camera is crucial. Film cameras are long
dead and digital cameras are here to stay. If you are just stepping into
the photography realm, this is only resource you need. |

- We are a group of people who keep drones near our hearts. We believe
that Drones are the most significant innovation of this century and it has
touched many peoples lives through entertainment, careers and ultimately
saving human lives. |
|
|
- Drones have opened a whole new dimension for photography
and videography that allows you to capture epic, cinematic shots that were
previously impossible to take unless you were in an airplane or helicopter. |
|
|
- Taking photographs digitally has tons of advantages over the film cameras
of yesteryear – from the ability to see the picture instantly to options
for manipulating the shot. Unfortunately, you won’t get the best out of
your digital camera if you just point and shoot. While that simple method
will yield a photograph, the shot has the potential to be so much better
with a little digital photography knowledge. Or perhaps you’ve already mastered
the basics and you’re looking for the latest tips and tricks or even a bit
of inspiration. Either way – novice or experienced – you’re sure to find
this guide of 40+ resources helpful. |

- A Guide to Drone Safety, Why You Can’t Just Buy a Drone and Take to
the Skies
We know them as drones. The authorities like to call them by their proper
name: Unmanned Aircraft Systems or UAS. Flying civilian drones has really
taken off in recent times—pun intended. The technology and growing availability
of drones caught US authorities off guard. Until recently, they had no
idea how to manage them. All they knew was that drone flying could not
go on unregulated. In the meantime, folks continued to snap up drones
online or from high-street stores and take to the skies. You still can,
but new rules and regulations now dictate what you can fly and where.

- My name is António Jorge Nunes and I'm a fine art photographer
based in northern Portugal. I've always been interested in visual languages
like painting, cinema and photography because of the way they can convey
emotions silently. I like to find order in chaos and am attracted by minimalistic
subject matters. My passion is to create visually compelling, balanced and
emotionally charged images that are able to communicate on their own.My
photos are as much a projection of my own inner world as the observation
and awe for the ethernal balance of nature. |

- Well, in this section, I am supposed to tell you how I got
inspired when I saw the "light" which moved me to make incredible
pictures day in and day out; about how I was a naive bumbling and fumbling
fan of natural scenes unable to record them properly on media, and low and
behold - somehow I figured it out due to my artistic leanings ... and yada
yada ... So ... anyways ... here are some of the pictures I took ... when
I couldn't find anything better to do. Hope you like them. |

by photography even as a little boy. Alton started taking pictures with
a Brownie Box camera when he was in grade school and has been interested

- This really isn't about me - it's about you. It's about
what you need when it comes to photography. You need compelling photographs
- photographs than can stand on their own and turn heads. You need a photographer
that listens to your needs, delivers that and more. You also need someone
that puts people at ease, allows them to be themselves so that when they're
photographed the result is genuine, unposed and unique. You need a photographer
who finds saavy solutions to challenges and makes subjects, be they bolt,
bottle or brain surgeon, compelling. And the last thing you need are surprises
that cost you money. |

- Jon Cornforth is an award-winning wilderness photographer whose images
have been recognized internationally for their masterful composition and
incredible detail. He’s compelled to express the beauty of the natural world
through his photography, traveling all year, challenging himself in new
locations and documenting the unique creatures who live there. All of his
images are captured in the wild. He believes in supporting environmental
groups and raising awareness through photography. |
|
|
- My interest in photography did not begin with books or mentors but evolved
through a fascination of the natural world that shaped all parts of my life
and brought them together. The desire, however, to communicate the way I
felt about mountains and wild places began ironically, not on dry land but
beneath the waves. With little photographic knowledge, I created a portfolio
of images around Scotland’s coastline and in the Red Sea and was surprised
to win ‘best newcomer to underwater photography’ in the Camera Beneath the
Waves competition in 1981. Working at the time as an operations manager
it was the catalyst that changed my life, and following a stint on a North
Sea oil platform as a photo-technician, I was soon following a career as
a professional photographer. |

- Christopher Burkett was born in 1951 and was reared in the Pacific Northwest.

perfected his craft so photography could be the means through which he could
express his innermost feelings and inspiration. Today he works almost exclusively
with color 8 x 10" transparencies. |

- A few basics on me... I was born 25.05.1982 in Osijek (Croatia) where
I still live and work. My work is entirely based on traditional and electronic
media. Today I work for a design studio Romulic d.o.o. where I do both
photography and designing. I was working as a regular correspondant for
the newspaper Glas Slavonije for 4 years. I was also the head editor of
local web portal Osijek-online, and the head editor and graphic designer
of the advert magazine Multimedia info both for over 5 years. Lately I've
been into a lot of 2D design and desktop publishing. Before all this I
worked as a DJ on Slavonski radio (I designed the web site :) for a year,

- I was born in Windsor in 1965. I was privately educated (firstly at
Papplewick where I was deeply unhappy, then to my relief much more positively
at Barfield School. All this was such a long time ago now that I expect
both institutions have changed out of all recognition). At 13 Charterhouse
followed which furnished me a very mixed experience, probably made unnecessarily
difficult by my having significant and (at that time) undiagnosed attention
deficit issues. However my lack of interest in the classroom did give me
the opportunity to study photography and astronomy on my own terms in my
free time, a valuable experience that has stayed with me for the rest of
my life. In spite of my dislike of the formal school process I did however
get into university, graduating LL.B from Buckingham and LL.M from Cambridge.
Some years later I took a one year diploma course in photography at Kingston. |

in the San Francisco bay area. I have always been passionate about technology,
music, art and my family. For me, photography comprises a little bit of

- Does it happen to all of you, scattered around the world, that even
people you’ve known for years, friends and neighbors, confuse you for a
Czechoslovakian or Polish? Or they ask you if Serbia was part of Russia
or Ukraine?
Then I usually respond, "You know where Italy is? Well we are just
across from Italy". Close enough, right? It helped me so far, but
I don’t know what you all usually refer to.
Whenever I encounter another friendly American with a poor knowledge
of geography, I always wish I could pull out a picture album from my pocket
and flash it before their eyes without saying and explaining much. Just
give them an idea of how the streets of my childhood might have looked.

- Fred Stein was born on July 3, 1909 in Dresden, Germany. As a teenager
he was deeply interested in politics and became an early anti-Nazi activist.
He was a brilliant student, and went to Leipzig University, full of humanist
ideals, to study law. He obtained a law degree in an impressively short
time, but was denied admission to the German bar by the Nazi government
for “racial and political reasons.”
Stein died in 1967 at the age of 58. His portraits and reportage had
appeared in newspapers, magazines, and books throughout the world. He
had numerous one-man exhibitions, gave frequent lectures, and had several
books published. His portrait of Albert Einstein is his most famous picture:
an iconic image of a great soul.

- For almost two decades now, we - Verena Popp-Hackner and Georg Popp
- make our living as professional landscape photographers, roaming the planets
wild places, always on the lookout for fresh and exciting views.
We are based in Vienna/Austria, running our own (rights managed) image library
and a small but fine photo-gallery. Photographing our tiny country Austria,
with all it's culture and nature, canoeing it's rivers or lakes and hiking
the Alps is our profession but our photographic “backyard” includes the
rest of the planet as well. We use analog large format cameras almost exclusively
for our landscape work, shooting on 4x5” sheet film, to provide clients
with the maximum of print-sharpness and details and unsurpassed clarity
and depth of focus. |

- Ian Coristine is not your typical photographer, accepting random assignments.
Only a single subject motivates him to get behind his camera - The Thousand
Islands. His discovery and love affair with that region began during a random
flight in 1992. He found an island, literally one in a thousand, with a
unique natural harbor, ideal for protecting his plane from marauding storms.
During his former career as the Canadian distributor for Challenger ultralight
aircraft, Ian learned the craft of air-to-air photography. Living "in
the assignment" with his plane offering a privileged view of an extraordinary
place, he began shooting it low from above. |

I have found that photography often provides the motivation to explore places
I might not usually hike to, in weather I might not usually prefer to hike

-I’ve written about 10 books on digital photography, the latest two published
in 2014, but I didn’t begin as a photographer or even as a graphic artist.
I had been a “spreadsheet warrior” and photography was just a hobby, but
working for Heidelberg in the graphics industry I been familiar with Photoshop
from about 1990. So while I loved darkroom printing, I also built up my
digital skills with scanned negatives and slides, a “wet and dry” route.
Then in 2003 I mentioned on my blog that I had just bought a Nikon D100,
and this led to the opportunity to write the first of three books on digital
B&W. |

- I believe that the most successful photographs are those that tell stories.
I have also come to realize that this is extremely difficult to do well.
With landscape photos, there may not be a dominant subject, such as a person
or animal, to carry the image -- there are no eyes to focus on! Instead,
the appeal of such an image must derive primarily from its technical and
compositional qualities. |

- An adventurer-naturalist, Kennan Ward photographs and writes about wilderness
and wildlife. He has dedicated his life to capturing the rare forms of nature
on film. Whether it be an endangered rhinoceros, a once-in-a-lifetime glance

Kennan continues to explore remote regions of the world to bring back messages
of uncommon beauty. Together with him in the field is his wife, Karen. Since
1986, Karen has significantly contributed to the image selection as a photographer
in her own right, as well as assisting in the research and business management

- I am a passionate amateur photographer who never leaves
home without at least one camera. I was born in Lučenec, Slovak Republic,
and I live in Brussels, Belgium. All of my work is done either on black
and white film or on colour film. I used to develop the B&W films myself
mostly using ILFORD ID II developer, bur recently due to space constrains
I have them developped by a lab. Than, all the images are scanned into Photoshop
using flatbed scanner Cannon CanoScan 9950F at 4800dpi 48bit highest quality
colour mode. Most of the photographs are just slightly enhanced using levels
and curves, retouched to remove dust and cropped to improve the impact.
However some are heavily manipulated, but only to the point of retaining
reality and artistic feel. |

that harken back to the Italian Renaissance and a portrayal of light that
rivals the Impressionist masters. |

- Macduff Everton gives a sense of place, whether portraits of individuals
or of a landscape. At 17 he took off with his surfboard to Europe, and ended

any longer. When he reached Japan he sold his first stories, one on Burma,
the other on Southeast Asia. Returning to the United States at 19, he was
hired by an educational film company to travel to Latin America to create
college-level archaeological and anthropological filmstrips. |

- I work with businesses and publications to create photographs that frame
their narratives and celebrate their work. I have shot assignments for top-tier
national publications like the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal,
Sunset Magazine, NPR, Barron’s, and the Washington Post. I have also produced
large, logistically-challenging projects under contract with U.S. federal
agencies including documenting agriculture conservation practices for the
U.S. Department of Agriculture and photographing Alaska’s Tongass National
Forest for the U.S. Forest Service. |

- Imagine an incredible blend of softness and ruggedness warmth and coldness.
A unique unthinkable and fantastic identity, a secluded world shaped by
fire and tempered by the ice.
Imagine a different place to be, you are in touch with the land, the
weather and nature”. Observing a land under two perspectives, an alien
world, a unique portrait about natural beauty of Iceland.

- In 1988 I quit my day job and became a self-employed photographer. I
survived using only my camera and my darkroom. I did portraits and weddings,
copied photographs and made slides for artists. In my darkroom, I developed
films and made custom prints for clients. In my spare time I pursued my
own creative work, capturing dramatic moments of light in the Point Reyes
Seashore landscape, and then printing editions for collectors. My long-term
goal was to follow my passion and support myself through the sale of my
photographs. |

- Having traveled the world for National Geographic for over 30 years,
award-winning photographer Michael Yamashita has a special
affinity for trailblazers such as Marco Polo and Zheng He. He’s followed
the 13th century footsteps of Marco Polo -- from Venice to
the Far East – and of Chinese admiral Zheng He, whose 300-ship fleet made
seven voyages along the maritime Silk Road a century
before Europe's great age of exploration. With Beijing’s One Belt, One Road
initiative retracing the ancient itineraries of Marco Polo
and Zheng He, Yamashita will present a timely photographic and historical
narrative of the travels of these two men, both of whom
were well ahead of their times. |

- I was born in in Rochester, New York, and I lived there
until I left for Brown University in 1961. When I was eight I became interested
in nature and birdwatching, but that faded as I grew older. In high school
my interests included ham radio, high fidelity, electronics and a little
photography. I learned to love fine music-- mostly classical-- but I was
never any good at making it, hence my interest in high fidelity. I majored
in physics at Brown. In my junior year I became seriously interested in
photography, but I never quite saw it as a career path (I felt pretty nerdy
compared to the art students at neighboring RISD-- the Rhode Island School
of Design). After I graduated in 1965 I went on to Wayne State University
in Detroit, where I used the physics department darkroom for developing
and printing. |

major was commercial art with an emphasis in graphic design. As a part of
my course of study I was required to take a course in photography. When
that first image appeared, as if by magic, I was hooked. From that moment
on I knew my destiny was set. "I would make photographs...". |

- Welcome to my web site. Here for your enjoyment are images from areas
that I am drawn to over and over again for their beauty, peace, and charm.
Each of these represents a special moment in time, the fortunate intersection
of season, light, weather conditions, and of course, my being there to witness
and record the scene. Some were chance encounters, the serendipity sublime.
These moments where all the right conditions intersect are fleeting; most
will never be repeated. My best efforts to recreate favorite images done
years ago on small film have been largely without success, but have led
me to wonderful new scenes none the less. |

- A pioneer of color photography, Pete Turner’s career began during the
infancy of color photography, at a time when color was used almost exclusively
for commercial purposes. Unlike many contemporaries, Turner embraced color,
seizing opportunities that allowed him to master the process and to create
the imagery he felt compelled to make. Unconcerned with the labels of “art”
or “commercial,” he has deftly created a life’s work that blurs these boundaries. |

- Photolinks.ch is built and maintained by Zurich based photographer Philippe
Wiget. Initially, this project started as a playground for designing webpages
and as a storage space for photography-bookmarks in 1997. There were several

In 2003, the collection finally became a real home under www.photolinks.ch.
And yes, we have plans to take this page another couple of steps further. |

enthusiasts and remember listening to my dad and brother discuss all different
aspects of photography. Above and beyond my passion for photography, is
my love for nature. I simply can’t get enough of the great outdoors and
attempting to capture the beauty of this amazingly diverse world we live
in. I feel lucky to live in the Pacific Northwest, an area which yields
mountains after mountains, vast ocean fronts, lush forests and streams,
and even deserts all within a few hours of my home. |

- I am a landscape photographer who specialises in photographing the Peak
District and the UK. My passion lies in taking photographs at first or last
light where soft golden colours transform beautiful landscapes into something
special, creating evocative and atmospheric images. I started taking photography
seriously in 2005 when I bought my first dSLR camera and set off into the
Derbyshire peaks. With no formal training, it was a steep learning curve
and I spent many hours out with the camera experimenting with different
compositions and settings. I feel this has allowed me to create my own unique
style of landscape photography. |

- Robert Mapplethorpe was born in 1946 in Floral Park, Queens.
Of his childhood he said, "I come from suburban America. It was a very
safe environment and it was a good place to come from in that it was a good
place to leave." In 1963, Mapplethorpe enrolled at Pratt Institute
in nearby Brooklyn, where he studied drawing, painting, and sculpture. Influenced
by artists such as Joseph Cornell and Marcel Duchamp, he also experimented
with various materials in mixed-media collages, including images cut from
books and magazines. He acquired a Polaroid camera in 1970 and began producing
his own photographs to incorporate into the collages, saying he felt "it
was more honest." That same year he and Patti Smith, whom he had met
three years earlier, moved into the Chelsea Hotel. |

- I love photographing people. Capturing moments. Recording memories.
The romantic little look that everyone else missed. The love between the
groom and his bride. The pride of the Father as he walks his only daughter

are what makes your wedding day so special. Your wedding photography is

- My love of nature and art began at a very early age. I began painting
in grade school, and my favorite subjects to paint were the landscapes that
I found in scenic calendars. In college, I studied Fine Art and expanded
my appreciation of art under the tutelage of renowned print master Dan Welden.
My interest in photography came from carrying a point-n-shoot film camera
on hikes and climbs in the mountains. |

New Mexico, I grew up exploring the spectacular wilderness in southwestern
Colorado and was fortunate to visit the Northern Rockies several times while

wilderness I experienced. I haven’t received any formal photographic training

- om Mackie has been a photographer all his working life. His degree in
commercial photography took him first of all to Los Angeles, where he spent
five years as an industrial and architectural photographer. It was during
this period that he travelled widely in the Western States, discovering
in himself a previously unknown fervour for the beauty of those vast 'cinemascope'
panoramas. After that, the confines of a Los Angeles commercial studio were
never going to hold him. Tom married his art to this new-found passion and
embarked on a 'til death-do-us-part' relationship with landscape photography. |

- To tell a story in pictures. Photography in it’s original sense. To
find the moment, where the light makes nature and landscape well worth seeing.
To catch exactly that instant, where people live their lifes, get through
their daily routine, raise buildings or build infrastructure. To realise
the characteristics of a situation and capture them in a picture. This needs
patience, experience and passion. I always pursue the old-school-notion
of my profession: preferably less arranging – simply more documenting. Taking
the beholder to a place he never went before, he never could reach. |

- Landscape Photographer, Willie Holdman, is a native Utahn. He started
experiencing the wonders of nature photograaphy at an early age by assisting
his father, Floyd, on photography assignments for National Geographic throughout
the country. His Utah landscape photography experiences began when he managed
to slip out and photograph the rural areas of Utah while at Brigham Young
University, where he received his BFA degree with an emphasis in photography.
A popular Utah landscape photographer, Willie resides at the base of majestic
Mt. Timpanogos in Midway, Utah. Although he has photographed nature all
over the world, it can't compare with the versatility and beauty of his
home state, Utah. Whether he is high in an alpine meadow experiencing Mountain
photography, or low in the red rock desert, concentrating on National Park
photography, this is home. |

- Yann Arthus-Bertrand, born in 1946, has always had a passion for the
animal world and the natural environment. At the age of 20, he settled in
central France and became the director of a nature reserve.
When he was 30, he travelled to Kenya with his wife with whom he carried
out a three-year study on the behaviour of a family of lions in the Massai
Mara reserve. He quickly started using a camera as a visual aid to capture
his observations and enhance the written reports they compiled. While
in Africa, he earned his living as a hot-air balloon pilot. This was when
he really discovered the earth from above and the advantages of viewing
what he was studying from afar to gain an overall picture of an area and
its resources. He discovered his calling: to demonstrate the Earth’s beauty
and show the impact of mankind on the Planet. His first book, Lions, was
born of this adventure – he likes to call these lions his “first photography
teachers.”

- Yousef Khanfar is an award-winning international author, photographer,
and humanitarian, whose images and messages transcend the dark corridors
of our world and take us to places of splendor where we can find peace and
humanity.
Of Palestinian origin, Yousef was born and raised in Kuwait, where he
grew up in the Middle East region exposed to images of war and violence.
He needed a voice to express his inner turbulence, and photography gave
him that voice. As he has said, “I have chosen to carry my camera and
pen instead of guns, and promote peace around the world; I believe peace
is a finer horse to ride than violence.”
